NDT Testing on Pulp and Paper Piping Systems

Non Destructive Testing on

Pulp and Paper Piping Systems

GGS performs non destructive NDT testing on pulp and paper piping systems. Our testing technology is portable and calibrated in just a few minutes allowing for quick, accurate information gathered from our inspection on the in-service piping of your production system.

Our Approach

for Pulp & Paper Piping Systems

GGS understand the characteristics of pulp and paper piping systems, how and where damage can occur, and how it progresses over time. This results in an approach that is specific to your environment and testing that is conscious of the functions of your system. Whether you are performing a routine assessment, evaluating for maintenance or need to learn more about suspect areas, our experience ensures pragmatic results.

Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI)

Most prevalent on insulated process piping that operates intermittently or under 200 F. CUI in the pulp & paper industry can occur anywhere around the circumference of the piping.

Internal degradation of pipe wall thickness due to high velocity material impacting the pipe. Usually occurs at flow direction changes such as elbows, tees, and reducers. The impacting material can be solid particulates entrained in a liquid process stream or liquid droplets entrained in a vapor process stream.

Chemical Corrosion

Pulp & paper processing uses both highly acidic and highly caustic chemicals to reduce wood to various types of paper ranging from photographic paper to tissue paper. Because of the extreme environments for this process piping, internal corrosion is inevitable.

Reported Conditions

for Pulp & Paper Piping Systems

Gamma Graphics non destructive testing results in reliable diagnostic data on your pulp and paper piping system. We detect and measure the following system components and damage mechanisms present in pulp and paper process piping and vessels:

  • Pipe Schedule
  • Pipe Wall Thickness
  • Blockage
  • Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI)
  • Erosion
  • Corrosion

Your testing report can be used to support multiple facility management initiatives. Our hard copy and electronic evaluations include quantitative and qualitative data of each individual scanned location.
