Pressure Vessel Testing
GSS applies UTT for reliable pressure vessel testing so you can manage the health and safety of insulated and uninsulated pressure vessels.
Pressure vessel testing for industrial and commercial process piping systems.
GGS performs non destructive testing (NDT) on pressure vessels.
Large vessels (over 24″ in diameter) are tested with Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT or UTT) technology. UT allows us to determine the wall thickness and and evidence of corrosion on your vessels. Detailed vessel fitness data will allow you to make informed decisions. Small vessels (under 24″ in diameter) are tested with Radiometric Profiling (RP) technology, applied with the LIXI Profiler.
Whether you are performing a routine maintenance assessment, or repairing a critical failure, you can count on our pressure vessel testing to be consistent, accurate and effective. An engineering deferral statement shall be made on the final report for pressure vessels that are not at least ten years old and do not show any external evidence of corrosion or degradation.
Vessel testing is performed on all pressure vessels that are at least ten years old and/or show external evidence of corrosion or degradation. Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) readings are taken near areas where water is most likely to infiltrate and corrode the shell or heads. On un-insulated vessels and large diameter piping, ultrasonic testing is performed in areas where the most corrosive activity is present. We ensure valid thickness readings are acquired by using suitable couplants that will not freeze and that the transducer is properly positioned and oriented on the testing surface.
Reliable, detailed findings.
Our accurate vessel testing locates and measures the following conditions:
Wall Thickness
Material measurement on insulated and uninsulated vessel wall
Wet Insulation
Location and volume measure of water and/or ice, and missing insulation, on insulated vessels
Corrosion
Internal and external corrosion on insulated and uninsulated vessels
Certifications
Plackard, Identification (IDs) and U1A confirmation and correction notation for P&ID and field documentation accuracy
We deliver data you can understand in a report you can put into action.
Information collected for each individual testing/scan measurement location (SML) is conclusive, thorough and easy to understand.
Benefit from results that allow you to do more with your data.
